Natural Ecoprint Workshop

Nature can print by itself. Leaves, flowers and other natural materials contain colours and structures that, with the right process, can be transferred directly onto fabric.

During the workshop with Monika Doležalová, you will discover a direct-printing technique using flowers, plants and natural extracts. Over two and a half hours, you will explore how natural dyes react under different conditions, how to create a composition on fabric and how folding, binding and steaming can produce a unique print that can never be replicated exactly.

How the workshop works

You will begin by exploring the world of natural colours, their sources and the basic principles of mordanting. You will prepare pre-mordanted textiles and try different ways of arranging plants, folding the fabric and binding it.

You will then create your own ecoprint. Plants and other natural materials will be arranged directly on the textile, which will then be carefully wrapped and steamed. You will first create your own sample piece before moving on to the final textile project.

At the end, you will unwrap your work and reveal the finished print, wash the textile and learn how to care for it afterwards. Every result is unique – the natural unpredictability of the process is one of the greatest beauties of ecoprinting.

Who will guide you through the workshop

Monika Doležalová is an illustrator and guide to the world of natural colours. She is fascinated by discovering sources of colour hidden in our surroundings and by exploring the properties of different natural materials, their combinations and transformations.

In her workshops, she creates space for playful experimentation where everyone can discover their own creative approach with ease and respect for natural materials.
