One tool, eleven different tips

Tom’s Studio Lumos is a refillable pen designed to replace an entire collection of disposable fineliners, markers and brush pens. One of eleven interchangeable tips can be fitted into its durable anodised aluminium body, allowing you to create precisely the tool you need for each task.

Lumos can be used for everyday writing, technical drawing, illustration, sketching, lettering and colouring. Fine fineliner tips provide a precise and controlled line, fibre tips are suitable for bolder marks, and the brush tip allows you to create strokes with a varied line width.

Refill with bottled ink

Instead of disposable refills, Lumos uses a removable fibre ink reservoir that can be filled directly from an ink bottle. This means that you are not restricted to a single colour or a proprietary refill system. You can choose from a wide selection of dye-based fountain pen inks and change colours to suit each project.

Lumos is compatible with dye-based fountain pen inks that contain no shimmer particles or binders such as acrylic or shellac. Shimmer inks, acrylic inks and calligraphy inks may clog the reservoir or tip and are not suitable for Lumos. The compatible Tom’s Studio No. 60 Pigment Black ink is an exception.

The difference between Lumos Single and Duo

Lumos Single has one working end and one larger ink reservoir. It is ideal for using one tip and one ink colour at a time. To change the way the pen writes, simply replace the tip; to change ink colour, clean or replace the reservoir.

Lumos Duo has two working ends and two independent reservoirs. Each side can therefore hold a different tip, a different ink colour or a combination of both. For example, you can keep a fine fineliner at one end and a brush tip at the other without changing them while you work.

The Duo version is supplied with one cap. When carrying the pen, one tip is covered by the cap while the other is screwed inwards into the centre of the pen, where it is stored securely.

How do you fill, use and clean the Lumos?

Lumos works differently from a conventional disposable fineliner. Filling the reservoir correctly, fitting the chosen tip and cleaning the components regularly help maintain a consistent ink flow and extend their working life.
