The egg cockle is known as the 'aristocrat of the sea' and is harvested mainly in Korea's Chungcheongnam-do region. In Korean, it is called the 'bird clam' because the flesh inside the shell resembles a bird's beak. It is a celebrated specialty of Namdang Port in Hongseong-gun, and its season peaks in January and February during the cold winter on the shallows of the West Sea.

The ink's shade captures the reddish tone of the shell of this seafood delicacy. Unlike many dark inks that look almost black when writing, this ink retains its true purple-brown color even when used in a fountain pen. The result is a deep, elegant shade with character and individuality.
