Brand story

From a graphic studio to an extensive visual archive

The Pepin Press grew out of a one-person graphic and book studio founded by Pepin van Roojen in Kuala Lumpur in 1988. The first title published under The Pepin Press name followed two years later.

Over the following decades, the brand built an extensive archive of books, historical prints, decorative art, textiles, fashion, ornaments and illustrations. Tens of thousands of motifs have been digitised, often carefully restored and reworked for contemporary use.

Today, Pepin and Anette van Roojen run the company with a small in-house team and a network of external collaborators. Every product is created under the brand’s direct design supervision.

From the archive into your hands

Every collection begins with an image

It may be a botanical illustration, a Japanese woodblock print, an Art Nouveau ornament, a historical map, a textile pattern or the work of a celebrated artist. The Pepin Press selects, refines and transfers the motif onto paper. You decide what happens next.

Quality you can see and feel

Paper is more than a surface for an image

The Pepin Press products are created with close attention to detail, print quality and the choice of paper best suited to each particular use.

An artist’s colouring book requires a different paper from a letter, a sticker or a large-format sheet intended for gift wrapping and collage. The material is an essential part of the whole experience.

Inspiration

See what you can create

The Pepin Press paper does not have to remain inside a book. It can become original gift wrapping, a collage, a card, a journal page or a decoration.
